Changing from a sand control method such as OHGP to SAS is a major decision in a field life. The risk to production and the integrity of the asset must be carefully assessed. Innovative Engineering has completed testing to assess the potential success of such a change for an injectite sandstone reservoir in the North Sea. The test program was developed to replicate the conditions for a non-compliant sand control completion and measure the results in terms of potential impact on productivity. A tailored testing program was designed and completed successfully; the results indicate that the change will pose very low risk to production and also identified improvements on the lower completion design.
